Oral Cancer Screening

For oral cancer screenings, we use the VELscope system in our office to give you a complete, comprehensive oral cancer screening in just minutes. The VELscope hand piece works by shining a blue light into the oral cavity. Healthy tissue appears as a bright apple-green glow, while suspicious areas appear dark under the light.

If something suspicious is detected, a small brush is used to collect cells from that area for further examination. This is a quick and inexpensive way to help with early detection of cancer cells.
