Lozi-Flur was introduced in April of 1998. It became reality after almost 8 years of work by Dr. Robert E. Reed of Bakersfield, CA. The concept of a low-dose long-duration lozenge delivery grew out of Dr. Reed’s years of frustration over poor patient compliance with other products he had been prescribing.
All home-use fluoride products do an excellent job of preventing decay, but most patients find them time consuming or difficult to use and thus don’t make treatment a daily routine. Lozi-Flur has eliminated the barriers to patient compliance. Patients love the taste and convenience, and compliance, as reported by the dental offices prescribing Lozi-Flur, has been excellent.
Lozi-Flur will benefit anyone who is prone to tooth and root surface decay. It is even an excellent tool for those who do not routinely develop decay, but who want to protect a healthy mouth and the investment they have made in it. Email us for more information on how to get Lozi-Flur.
Lozi-Flur is beneficial to those who have dry mouth (xerostomia).
Having a decreased flow of saliva has some serious consequences. Heavy plaque and food accumulations tend to occur with dry mouth (xerostomia). This can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Saliva is the body's self-cleansing mechanism. It helps remove food, debris, and plaque from the tooth surfaces, which helps protect against oral diseases.
Saliva also protects against cavities. It cleanses the tooth surfaces and neutralizes acids, and in this way, protects the tooth surface from tooth decay. People who have dry mouth (xerostomia) are very susceptible to cavities, especially on the roots of their teeth. One goal of treatment is to stimulate more saliva production when xerostomia is severe.
